Meta announced a series of AI-driven innovations this Wednesday, introducing a "Meta AI" chatbot assistant and an array of more than 24 AI personalities designed for its messaging and social platforms.
Conference Highlights: Amidst the pretty impressive spectacle at the annual Meta Connect summit, Meta showcased many new AI products and upgraded augmented and virtual reality segments.
Meta AI: Meta's Chatbot is set to roll out on platforms like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram Wednesday in the U.S. The intention is to eventually extend this service to Ray-Ban smart glasses users and those utilizing the Quest 3 VR headset.
Image Production Capabilities: The chatbot can craft photorealistic images from text.
AI Personalities in Beta: Launching 28 unique AI personalities with distinct characteristics and tastes. Celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, and Naomi Osaka have lent their personas.
Ray-Ban's Latest Smart Glasses: Unveiled during the event, these upgraded shades, facilitating access to Meta's chatbot, boast enhanced audio and camera quality.
Meta Quest 3: Introduced as Meta's novel mixed reality headset, it's being touted as the maiden mass-market offering. It is slated for an October release, priced around $500-$650.
Smart glasses are the ideal form factor for you to let an AI assistant see what you are seeing and hear what you are hearing.
We all know how finicky chatbots can be though - from hallucinations, to bias to outright lying.
In response Meta says that it spent 6,000 hours finding problematic use cases and recruiting employees to interact with the models internally before releasing them. And it claims that itās developed new tech to catch and take action on content that violates its policies; prevented chatbots other than Meta AI from searching the web; and made its new chatbot features available to researchers through its bug bounty program.
Looking Ahead: Meta aims to offer AI personalities to enterprises and content creators as the roadmap unfolds. Moreover, the launch of AI creator studio tools is on the horizon, enabling developers and Meta enthusiasts to craft their personalized AIs.
Pretty, pretty good.
