On Thursday, Microsoft researchers identified a potential network of counterfeit social media accounts, allegedly controlled by Chinese operatives, using AI to manipulate US voters. In response, a representative from the Chinese embassy in Washington dismissed the claims as "prejudiced and malicious speculation," emphasizing China's stance on the secure application of AI technology. According to Microsoft's recent research report, these accounts are part of a broader disinformation operation suspected to be linked to an elite faction within China's Ministry of Public Security.
