ChatGPT rolls out ‘Custom Instructions’ that lets you create your own agent

Brief: OpenAI just released a "Custom Instructions" update, which gives you more control over responses by setting instructions for it to remember across multiple conversations.
The massive update directly responds to critics who say that ChatGPT-4 has been getting 'dumber' and losing its ability to follow threads.
*It also lets you set prompts to override safety and morality filters - not that we’re condoning that sort of thing.
“Right now, if you open up ChatGPT,” says Joanne Jang, who works on model behaviors and product at OpenAI, “it doesn’t know much about you. If you start a new thread, it forgets everything you’ve talked about in the past. But there are things that might apply across all conversations.”
Details:
To enable click on the three dots next to your email on the bottom left of the screen > Settings > Beta features > Toggle on “Custom Instructions”
Beta is available to Plus users (except for the EU and UK) and is on deck to be replaced to free users within the coming months
The update comes 11 days after the release of “Code Interpreter”
What’s Next: This update aims to create internal datasets so ChatGPT can get to know you and, more importantly, remember you. This will help you create a virtual assistant to pluck information from every thread in real-time, allowing for a more customized response set.
